| Parking Aid System |
 |
Using several ultrasonic wave sensors and an electronic control unit (ECU), the parking aid system monitors obstacles in the front and rear of the vehicle and alerts the driver.
DENSO Technology – Leading the World
- In 1982, DENSO introduced the world’s first parking aid system that used ultrasonic wave sensors to detect obstacles.
- In 2004, DENSO launched the world’s first parking aid system that calculated a distance to an obstacle in a circuit integrated with each sensor, and adopted bus topology for communication between the ECU and sensors, resulting in higher reliability and reduced total wire length.
Benefits and Features
- Easy installation
- Since DENSO’s parking aid system adopts the bus topology, total wire length is reduced compared to conventional parking aid systems using a star topology (see diagrams below).
- Easy assembly
- Each sensor’s sensitivity can automatically be adjusted before installation.
- Small size
- Each sensor is integrated with newly developed communication and amplifier circuits, achieving a simplified small ECU.
- High reliability
- The sensors, integrated with circuits that calculate a distance to an obstacle, reduce noise influences and improve the detecting reliability.
