Remote Security System With Imobilizer

In a conventional security system, when someone attempts to break into a locked vehicle, the horn sounds and the hazard lamps flash. The effectiveness of these systems has reduced over time.

With this remote security system the driver is alerted of the break-in attempt via email or directly to his/her mobile phone. The systems also transmitts photographs of the vehicle interior, taken by a camera in the rear view mirror. The driver can then decide if action needs to be taken. They can instruct the control centre to imobilise the vehicle engine as soon as it is safe to do so. The location of the vehicle is also transmitted. The system can also be used to turn off lights or lock the doors remotely.

DENSO has developed three components for the system: a remote security electronic control unit (ECU), a security camera and an upgraded data communication module.

DENSO Technology – Leading the World

  • It is the world’s first system to use telematics to perform the remote immobilizer function. Not to be confused with systems available for trucks in Europe which require road-side transmitters.
  • It is the world’s first system to perform the remote immobilizer function as an OEM system. Not to be confused with similar systems available for AM fitment in Europe. Governments (except Japan) do not currently allow this AM system. The DENSO system is the only system officially approved by governments.

How it works - in detail

  • When an intruder is detected, the remote security ECU sends a command to the security camera to take photographs. DENSO developed durable on-board semiconductor devices for the remote security ECU and security camera.
  • The data communication module receives the photo data and vehicle position information from the remote security system, and sends it to an external information center (called a G-book Center). The information center then sends the information to the driver’s personal computer or mobile phone.
  • DENSO’s upgraded communication module provides high-speed Internet connectivity, allowing the transfer of large amounts of data between the vehicle and the information center. In addition, the speed of information transmission and reception is greatly increased.
