| SC Alternator for Passenger Cars |
 |
In 2000, DENSO introduced the world’s first segment conductor (SC) alternator using a rectangular conductor for its stator coil. Because it increases the winding density (space factor) from 45 percent to 70 percent, the SC alternator is 20 percent lighter and produces 50 percent more electric power than a conventional alternator.
Benefits and Features
- High output, high efficiency and light weight
- The winding density of the stator coil is increased from 45 percent to 70 percent using an innovative winding method and a rectangular conductor with a rectangular cross-section.
- The improved winding density cuts coil resistance in half and improves the radiation performance.
- Low magnetic noise
- Magnetic pulsation (the main component of magnetic noise in the alternator) is reduced 90 percent by the newly developed cancel circuit. This circuit was created by dividing the stator coil into two pairs, producing a phase difference.
- Small and multifunctional regulator
